A Video To for 1999 - I used to listen with to this Layla in my Turquoise Room

The Living Room Rope Fights

When I first moved out, I was pretty messy. Layla was super energetic when she was a few months old. In the picture Layla was about 8 months old. I took her to training and she learned how to sit, stay, ext... The picture below is a picture of my Friend Eric with Layla and her sister playing with their rope. As you can see the living was a MESS. It was madness back then.

This was the late 90's and this is about the time things got crazy insane. Layla was growing up and she loved to lick anything! I remember how I used to have to stop her from licking the carpet or if I had a guest over I would have to stop her from licking them. She was so little then. This is when I used to call her my big cat. She acted like a big cat. She was so fast, strong, and agile. I remember how they used to play fight and Layla would roll over on her belly and fight like jui-jitsu style. Speaking of Belly, I would bet that movie was playing when that photo was taken. I watched that movie hundreds of times. Thinking back it really was not a very good movie. To get to the point, if you have extra money go to google and find a charity for pit bulls or cancer. Donate something, even if it is a dollar it helps! BTW the picture in the backround of the blog is the front of the first house in Fresh Meadows. I love you forever Layla!

The Day My Grandparents Met Layla

As I woke up in my house in Fresh Meadows I took Layla for a walk. When we were outside i noticed how beautiful the day was. This must have been early summer 1999. As I was walking back into my home suddenly i remembered that my Grandmother and my Grandfather were coming over.

I was in my house cleaning up and making my home presentable for my grandparents. I was really excited because my grandparents lived in Florida and my Grandmother had been suffering from cancer since 1997. I was so excited for them to meet Layla. I remember talking to them on the day prior and telling them she was a pit bull but she was the most amiable pit bull ever.

After I cleaned up Layla and Dutchess were playing with their rope. Layla was about six months old at this point and she was extremely energetic. I remember she would run from one side of the living room and jump on the couch full force and then run right back to the other side of the living room and jump on that count. She did this FOREVER.

When my Grandparents arrived I was grateful to see them. I showed them around the house and introduced them to Layla. My Grandmother (who passed away from cancer that year August 27, 1999) loved Layla. I remember sitting on the couch with Layla and Dutchess watching Judge Judy.  I had such a great time and remember that day Early summer vividly as if it were yesterday. After my Grandmother passed away I was lost. Layla was my security blanket. I still think about my Grandmother everyday too. She was a great, giving women who took a hand in raising me and taught me many things. I am grateful for the times that I had with my Grandmother and she will be with me forever. As of now, I can imagine Layla on a couch with my Grandmother in Heaven.

Below are Some charities for Pit Bulls

Please do what you can to help dogs in need. Even if it is just one dollar it will be helpful. If you have a dog or cat I recommend Pet Insurance from Purina to help cover your vet bills.

Pizza On The Table

As I sit here watching reality TV I felt an urge to get a bottle of water. As I opened the water I went to pour some water into her bowl. I thought her bowl was there and she would want some water. That reminds me of the time when I was living on Utopia parkway.

Once my friend Jon and I were out and walked into the house. There was left over pizza on the table. I can vividly remember Dutchess standing on the table eating pizza and Layla with her two paws on a chair waiting for the pizza to drop. That was around 2002. BTW this blog is not going to be in the correct syntax. I am going to write memories as they come to me. I still can not believe you have past on my beautiful girl. I miss you and I will love you forever my big puppy! My life will never be the same without you.
